[Solved] I5 2500k low score on Windows Experiance Index

I benchmarked i5 2500k on Windows Experiance Index and I saw that its only getting 7.4 but I found that people are getting 7.6 with stock speeds. How is this possible? I even tried Passmark 7.0 and the score there on CPUs is 6818 but I am only getting 5200. What is wrong?

So its true that people are getting varying scores on the same CPU with the same stock speeds. That could just have one meaning that either its some part of the system bottle necking the CPU or the i5 2500k is manufactured differently in different countries.

Check in BIOS to see if it's possibly underclocked. Multiplier should be at 33

No I checked in the BIOS and the mutliplier is set to 33, I even checked using CPU-Z. I even tried disabling EIST in BIOS and I still got the same score

did you disable all unnecessary processes and applications in Task Manager
can make a difference in a benchmark with Antivirus and other background programs
and processes running

Well I dunno. My i7 2600K gets a 7.6 on stock speed so I would presume the 2500K would get a 7.4-7.5 since it loses maybe 25% there due to no hyperthreading

As far as Passmark goes, I don't find their rankings very reliable

I did the benchmarks on a freshly installed Windows 7. I am still getting 7.4 on WEI and 5200 on Passmark even after checking the multiplier and disabling EIST. I even tried setting the Windows Power Settings to High Performance and still the same score

One more thing, the reason for your lower scores on WEI and Passmark could be due to using a 32 bit OS or 32 bit version of Passmark as opposed to the standard 64 bit. Running the 64 bit version of Passmark would net you a 25%-30 increase or so in rating, which is roughly the difference between your listed 5200 & 6800. Either way, neither WEI or Passmark are the most accurate CPU benchmarks, WEI even less so

its more likely down to your memory latency impacting the whole build. faster ram rarely compensates for better latency as most people seem to go for 1600mhz ram they think great...9-9-9-24 will do. when they really want 7-7-7-19 its a good 5+ percent more efficient... personally i run my 1600 ram at 1333 6-6-6-13 and it gives me similar results to running 2100mhz ram at c9 bandwidth wise. i have an i7 9 series and my rating for my cpu is 7.5@2.67ghz... i can get it up to 7.6 if i go to 3.7ghz with an over all score of 6.3 due to my raided spinpoint f3's
over all the the W.I.E. isnt the best or anywhere near the most accurate account of a systems performance.

My WEI for i5-2500k is 7.4 when i set the RAM (2X2GB) in 1333 9-9-9-24, but when chang to 1600 8-8-8-24 my WEI is 7.6.

i reccmend you get a 1200watt psu, then over clock to 8.7 ghz as well sa your graphics card, using nitrogen cooling, try to acheive absolute zero, thats -273OC or 0kelvin. It shouldnt be too hard, you just have to blow reallllly hard on the cpu.

Hopefully this will give you 7.6 out of 7.9

Do a search on Toms on "WEI scores" and you can
see they are meaningless

You have a GREAT cpu
Stop worrying about some synthetic benchmarks that dont mean a thing
Real world performance is what counts

yes the non linear benchmarking system really isnt important.
My friend has a WEI score of 7.8 and his system his core2quad.
