Greetings everyone.

I am about to order some Koolance parts from U.S as I can't find a reseller in here (if anyone knows one with experience I would love to know) which the whole package with the shipping costs 590 GBP. I was wondering about customs how are they charged? The package its shipped with UPS. It seems that Koolance can't change the package as 'gift' so I can't bypass that, although I've been heard that If i prove that the package its self-use I might not be charged...

I would love to hear all experiences with customs and if anyone knows a website which indicates how much does it costs for electronics that would be great.

It's highly likely that printer cartridges coming form Aden to England might attract a higher rate of VAT. :D

Customs charges are normally 17.5% plus £10 admin fee from what I remember in the past, you could always ask them to declare it as a test/engineer sample, then you wouldn't have to pay tax on it.

A friend of a friend used to do this for people dealing with another product type. The US Customs finally got suss to what was going on and the person in question ended up with a sizeable fine for fraud. You're basically asking them to commit fraud so don't be surprised if you get a no.

The other way to do it - Fly out with a package (old PC) and fly back with a new one. You have outbound flight details showing you checked in extra baggage and what type it was. If done properly and sparingly you can fund a trip, an old acquaintance used to do this with high end mountain bikes and more than paid for his flights in savings.
