Hello,
I'm looking to upgrade my old comp (since my old socket A mb supposedly died ) and stumbled upon this Mobo: ecs 880GM-M7 (2.0) but there's something fishy about it.. it costs just under 63$ and it has an 880G/SB710 chipset. I'm guessing the bios might be crapppy or the caps but i just don't know really. Anybody have any experience with their am3/am2+ boards?.. They are all so cheap but i fear they might not be as durable as i want(BTW i plan to use this board for the next 6-7 years and do some overclocking after4-5 years). Speaking of which i am curious if anybody had the chance to overclock one of these models and monitor the temps during load

That's about right for a 880 chipset board. But your processor that fit in the socket A board, won't work in a AM3 socket board.

Yes i know....what do you mean by it's about right for a 880 chipset board?...as in normal price or normal price for a crappy board?

I just mean the $63 dollar price you found is about the average retail price for that board:

I thought you were just concerned about the price.

I have no opinion on its quality because I've never owned an Elitegroup board. The 880 chipset is an adequate chipset for gaming with Athlon II and Phenom II processors, though. Matched with a fast graphics card, the AMD system should provide a great gaming experience (if you're a gamer).

I don't believe that my gigabyte board (also 880g was much more a few months ago) For that price you can get a better name board.

This board does not have usb3.0 or Sata III. For a little more money you can get this

It has usb 3 Sata III and is only $5 more.

I'd recommend shelling out a little bit more for an am3+ board. That would allow support for the new FX chips coming out now. In a year or two those chips are going to be MUCH cheaper and all you would need to do for an upgrade is pop in a new processor.

Might be worth looking at.

I went inexpensive on my main board, and now regret it. It does everything I want today but once I add a USB 3.0 card I'll use up my last expansion slot.

those are my two cents.

I bought this board

and should have bought this one

though both were much cheaper at FRYs
