Hello, could someone help me with Memory Compatability?

I have the following motherboard : Supermicro X7DAE

With the following memory : 2 x 8gb Samsung : pc2 5300f 555 11 d0

The computer is stable, but when I try to add more memory it is not recognised. Now, the memory in question is either :

1) Samsung : 1 or 2 gb pc2 5300f 555 11 E0

2) Samsung : 1 or 2 gb pc2 5300f 555 11 B0

The model number is exact except the last letter, highlighted in bold. I have tried to extract information from Samsung but to no avail.

So, does the alternate last letter mean it cannot be mixed and it is a compatabilty problem i.e. I am going to need to find a load of D0, or is it that it is compatible and I just need to play with the memory setup in the Bios to get it to work.

I am trying to get it to recognise 32gb, the maximun it can recognise.

Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Thank you

Your memory must be exactly the same speed, cas latency etc. I think you should use these type of memory FB-DIMM (Fully Buffered DIMM)

Hello, i have answered my own question. A clear case of RTFM. Page 2-6. There is a specific bank layout. I now have 24gb recognised. Hope this helps someone in the future.
