Need to convert USB 3.0 20 pin header cable from front panel on a case to standard 4 pin USB 3.0 interface. Where can I get one? Current Mobo does not have a USB 3.0 header interface on it.

You can't.

USB 3 is NOT 4 pin. USB2 uses 4 pins, and you can plug a USB3 connector into USB2, but if you look deep into a USB3 socket you'll see that there are extra pins that connect when you plug USB3 into USB3.

If your motherboard doesn't have a USB3 connector, then leave it unconnected.

Thank you for the reply! I have a Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3 mobo which you're right [NOW I looked at it] more pins for USB 3.0 than 2.0. The mobo also does not have a USB header interface [20 pin] connector on it. It does have just the USB 3.0 outside on the I/O panel though.

Just that this is a new project, and I hate to buy a case which requires the USB 3.0 cable to come out from the back, and plug into the external interface.

:pfff: Fustrating... LOL!

I know ASRock makes a mobo with that internal 20 Pin USB 3.0 connector, and may have to go with this:

Does anyone know of a mobo that offers Sata 6.0, up to 1800MHz bus [16GB Ram], AM3 chipset & supports CrossFire?

I think USB 3.0 is just to new for now. Thanks again CompulsiveBuilder.

I was suffering for the same case. My mobo had no usb 3.0 20 pin.

so I purchased this

You can purchase it here.

Thank you Hoho1234! That will do it.

Unfortunately, I purchase the following case which has one USB 3.0 interface going to a USB 3.0 interface plug which gets plugged to the back of the mobo's i/o panel:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] _-11133184

Great case! NOW, I need the same PCI Express gen 2.0 with single lane(x1) throughput 5Gbit/s but with a actual USB 3.0 interface, so I don't need to route the cable out off the case.

...never ending...LOL!

Here’s the build, so far:

• ThermalTake A60 AMD Leo Edition
• Gigabyte 870A-USB3.0 mobo
• AMD Phenom ii x6 1100t – 6 Cores 3.3GHz
• 8 GB [for now] Crucial Ballistix DDR3 PC3-16000
• XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5
• Ultra LSP 750W Power Supply
• Kingston HyperX SSD 120GB Drive
• LG Blu-ray Disc Rewriter with LiteScribe
• Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.

Here's my solution:

Front Case USB Box connector to
Box header 20 pin to USB 3.0 Adapter to
USB3.0A-Male to USB3.0A-Male
USB3.0 PCI-E card with 3external 1internal Ports

it sounds more complicated than it is, really if you use a twisty tie you'll never notice the different while cabling.

Also this gave me 3 more external USB 3.0 ports further future proofing my system, and no ugly external cabling mess all for under 30 bucks total.

If your case has the front USB 3.0 ports running off a A-Male USB plug instead of a box header plug then all you would need is the USB3.0 Card and no cable or adapters :D

3$
Box header 20 pin to USB 3.0 Adapter

5$
3ft USB 3.0 A-Male to A-Male cable

20$
USB3.0 PCI-E card with 3ext 1internal ports
