Forum Motherboards & Memory : Supermicro X8DT6-F Scythe Big Shuriken Problem

Word :    Username :

Hi I have a Supermicro MBD-X8DT6-F-B Motherboard with a LGA 1366 socket.
I'm trying to install the Scythe Big Shuriken cooler setup with the Intel C33389 plastic push pins.
But, it appears to me that the holes on the mobo around the cpu socket are too small for the plastic push pins. Anyone have experience with this???

It seems the Supermicro MBD-X8DT6-F-B Motherboard LGA 1366 socket holes are meant for a server LGA 1366 socket cooler rather than a desktop cooler and thus have smaller holes.

The Supermicro has a CPU backplate that will not allow the standard Intel C33389 push pins to work or any other standard (desktop) LGA 1366 mounting mechanism for a cooler.

The final solution was to get some long M3-0.5mm screws and nuts to secure the cooler.
