I'm looking for the name of a comic series that I heard about a few months back.

From what I remember of the story line, it takes place a few hundred years ago where for some unknown reason, super powers are emerging hundreds of years before they normally would have. I remember some comic art (at least I think it's comic art) of what looks like 'A' superhero dressed as if he's fighting in the American Revolutionary War.

I know that the details are somewhat sketchy but I'm hoping that there's someone out there with a freaky good memory who can help me out.

I believe you're looking for Marvel 1602 written by Neil Gaiman. There was a follow-up called 1602: New World but it wasn't as good.
