Forum Motherboards & Memory : DFI Upgrading CPU in a DFI LP 790FX DK

I've been looking at replacing my CPU. Currently I'm running a AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition with an ULTRA Chiltec Thermo electric cooler. I wanted to bump up to something with 4 cores. I can Support and find AM2+ CPU's but, I've read and heard about the board being able to support AM3 CPU's with a quick bios update, and was wondering if anyone had any information on such? Assuming I can't run an AM3 CPU I'm looking into http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-471-_-Product

I would email or call DFI on your board first to find a bios update for the newer cpu. You'll need to flash the bios anyway with the old cpu first before installing the new one. They might even email you a bios file to flash. I don't see your board model on their website. No point in guessing about the cpu.

I'm sorry for the confusion since I have given some misinformation and what board it is I'm using. LANPARTY DK 790FX-M2RS, This board is listed on the website.
