dell precision 470 dual core 2.80 gigahertz Intel Xeon (2 installed)
System Service Tag: JDQVQ1J
Matrox Millennium G450 DualHead
2gb ram
Windows 7 Ultimate (build 7600)

should be simple enough[chokes !]
got a feeling I'm missing something real basic .
thanks

Extended desktop, you mean two displays? AS DVI-I could only output one VGA signal, are you sure the Precision doesn't have two output ports?

Thanks for reply,
does that mean dvi-i will give just 2 instances of same image ?..poop !
another approach then.

yes you're right ,got vga and dvi-i out.

So, problem there is, I tried second monitor with the dvi and just got the 'no signal' 'check connections' notice..same as when you turn off pc.
I reconnected current monitor to other half of splitter = no signal on either !!
I think I may have to buy yet another cable and run dvi>dvi for one screen [easy choice as only one has dvi in[sods law..it's the old ****ter I had in mind for secondary !] and vga> vga for my my nice tv/monitor.

then I'll find .....?? blechhh !!

oh well ,it's kept me out of the pub again.....still end up with a headache tho.

welcome anymore ideas if any around tho.
by the way matrox is only 32mb..that can't help much !

cheers da G

Can you try connecting the primary monitor to DVI and see if it boots? If it does then go and plug another into VGA, not sure if your sytem supports dual-monitor by itself. Does your PC have a spare PCI or PCI-e slot for a graphics card? You'll need to open it up to check.
