Forum General UK & Ireland Discussions : Where to buy hardware in Ireland / UK

Hey there

I want to buy a lappy and I've been lurking around different stores in ireland and uk, but the ones i'm aware of just simply suck.

I've been looking at currys, pc world, ebuyer.com, argos and they're terrible in the range they offer.

So my question to society is - where can i actually buy something?
If store is in UK it would be required they do shipping to ireland for less then 50 euro.

thx
myst

You can try Scan.co.uk. Really nice prices and loads of options!

I like Overclockers, you can also try Dabs and Komplett.

Staples have a decent range if you prefer a shop to buying online.

I'd have thought Amazon would be worth a look. They have a promo allowing you a one time try of their next day delivery for free at the moment, although you have to register for it then kill it after.

I don't think there is a single place in uk / ireland that offers a good choice, nor has what i want >_>.

i eventually bought my stuff in poland.

check out this store:
http://www.x-kom.pl/c/159-notebook [...] ptopy.html

that's what i call range :D
(and this is laptops only, sick!)

What did you end up buying in the end then? I don't tend to worry about the full range being stocked by a supplier. Just work out which item I want then hunt for the best price from whichever supplier has it.

samsung 15r with i3-370 and radeon HD5650 and 4gb ram.

Hmmm.. Are you sure you didn't make a typo there? Dell do an Insperon 15r, Samsung the R510 which is what I assume you mean.

You're talking to a guy who can't put a verb into a sentence.

What is it with the Irish not being able to put things where they should?

I'm not irish. Indeed i've made typo. I meant dell 15r :P

Which all the time you could have just ordered from Dell rather than a 3rd party supplier from the outer fringes of the EU.

I don't speak or read Polish so I have a problem with that site but I can't help wondering what sort of keyboard those laptops will have and whether the language setup wil have been set to Polish by the OEMs.

bios etc will be english. keyboard will be either us or uk. windows will be most likely in polish but that shouldn't be an issue to change

@audiovoodoo - was cheaper tbh
