Hello,
Have above stated board and am running Smart Guardian. SG reports temps of 27C:CPU, 52C System, 38C chipset. What I'd like to know is, what exactly is system? Is it suppose to be my case temp, or is it like the north bridge or south bridge temp? And why is it so high? Also I just went from a A64x2 6000(125W) to a Phenom II x3 740(95W) And the "system" temp went up about 7C.... but my CPU temp dropped about 3C. So it has to be a controller or chip of some sort.

Welcome Newcomer! :)

System Temp in most cases is the NB {Northbridge Temp} or other loose {vague} definitions the "MOBO." Smart Guardian or CoreTemp 0.99.X http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ - polls the BIOS info; so to be 100% accurate you'd need to read your manual to determine {what exact temp is being monitored}.

The NB is always hot, and is nothing to be too concerned about, just make certain that your case has adequate air flow and has ~ negative pressure CFM Out > CFM In. Minor fluctuations of +/- 5C are not uncommon and running e.g. Prime95 or intense task will raise all temps.

NB handles a lot of data {CPU, RAM, BIOS, and PCI Express}, and all of that electrical activity generates heat - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northbridge_(computing)
NB Tcase_max 105°C [221°F] {Tcase_min 5°C} - ref http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/de [...] 306749.pdf

Hope that helps!
