I want to build the best machine possible for gaming at a budget price... around 600-700 bucks. Basically I want to be able to play things like Left 4 Dead on the highest settings, or World of Warcraft with really good FPS. Is this possible in this price range or am I just kidding myself?

Could I get some advice on what I should be looking for? I have browsed Tiger Direct and Newegg, but I just don't know very much about building a machine, please offer any help you can.

I also have monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers that I can still use just fine, so it's really just the actualy case and components I'm after, I'd shed out some more for the OS but the 600-700 is like I said just components.

WoW is possible. L4D2 may just be out of reach.

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7 $115
HDD/PSU: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB and OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Combo for $95 after rebate
Case: Antec 300 Illusion $50 after rebate
Optical: Cheapest SATA DVD burner $25
GPU: HD 5770 $150

Total: $659.

The reviews in the RAM sticks page says it's designed for Intel chips, the CPU chip is made by AMD, will there be conflicts here or am I reading these wrong?

It doesn't matter. It's all just marketing.
