I built my current computer 10+yrs ago and I think it's time for a rebuild. The computer is mostly used for internet browsing, streaming video, working with spreadsheets, graphics and cad programs, music and some gaming.
I'm going to reuse my DVD/CD drive, mouse, keyboard and monitor(HDMI), but that's probably it from the old unit.
I would like to keep it under $800.00 if possible(some flex with that).Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking about staying with Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions?

Any idea about anything you want?
processor? AMD or intel?
How good of a graphics card are you looking for?
when you say "some gaming" what type of games are you speaking of?

I'm not really stuck on a certain brand. I'm just looking for something stable that runs good especially with graphics programs and streaming video. Thanks for your help.

Saint is definitely right, that's out of your price range. Buy a 500GB Samsung Spinpoint, they have very good reviews. Get a full size motherboard. Probably go with a Radeon HD 5770 Graphics card instead of a 5870... You wont need the 5870 since you said you aren't really making a gaming machine.

At this point, there is no reason to stick with Windows XP unless you are running specific version of software which are incompatible with Windows Vista/7. (Photoshop 5, etc). Unless of course you already have a copy of XP and don't want to have to buy another.

Get the 500GB Samsung F3 Spinpoint instead of the Western digital. Spin point is faster

See this, the difference is the voltage and the revision, the GMBOX is more new that the GIBOX

I would change the HDD for the Spinpoint F3 500GB, $54.99. Same price, better performance.

Also, the RAM have a CL9 that is high, you can try this, is a little more expensive, but much better.

The other components are fine.
