back up hard drive extra space...

Hello, i used a 250 gig HD to back my system up, it took about 150gigs, you can see a couple gigs used in some other partition , but where is the remaining space... Did i back up wrong??? it was simple steps, select the drive to BU and select the drive to route it too.
