Can I back out of RAID 1?

Forum Storage : NAS/RAID Can I back out of RAID 1?

Hello,

I have a computer with two physical disks making a RAID 1. I don't want the RAID anymore. Can one of the drives be removed, and now just have one of the drives act as a normal drive/letter?

Pretty sure you would need to back up all data from the RAID1 drives on a different drive and then wipe the RAID1 HDDs clean and disable your RAID controller and reinstall OS and all info you backed up onto a HDD in non RAID fashion or how ever you choose. Just my 2 cents.
