Toolbox 3 issue (can't see SSD)

Forum Storage : SSD Toolbox 3 issue (can't see SSD)

Word :    Username :

hello,

I've an Intel SSD X-25M G2 for about 2years now. It's installed in my Toshiba P300 notebook. In the other slot i've a Western Digital of 1TB.
For the intel SSD, I always used the toolboxes. I never had problems with them as they were very easy to install and to use.
Recently I downloaded and installed the new Toolbox 3.0.2 from the Intel site. Installation was succesfull, but when I opened the toolbox it didn't see my SSD, only my other Hard disk. I tried to install the toolbox in safemode, where i made the following screenshot:

My notebook is set at AHCI and my disks aren't set in any RAID level.
Does anybody know what the problem could be or has someone maybe the same problem?

thnx, jef

Maybe try a firmware update?

Which AHCI drivers are you using? Your motherboard's?
It's possible you may need to install Intel's latest RST drivers in order for the Toolbox to recognize your drive.

Here's a link to the driver download page: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/De [...] 2&lang=eng

Install the drivers if you cannot find another solution to your problem.

Ok, I made some screenshots from what the toolbox says about my system:

But thats the weird thing (for me), my system is set at AHCI in BIOS, but the system information says the controllers are all IDE channels. Here is the installation guide for the Intel toolbox, with the known Issues and limitations. They also point out the Toolbox3 won't work with X25-m based on IDE mode:

Following link is a screen shot from my system devices about the motherboard drivers:

Next Intel site gives the available updates for my X25-M: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Se [...] ilyId=3124

I can try a firmware update, but like Intel describes i have to do this in bios from a CD, wich could be dangerous, if something happens, i can lose all my data just for what should be a "stupid" update. Besides, on the Intell download site for toolbox 3, they say toolbox 3.0.2 can be installed above exsisting toolboxes, what was the case for me. They don't speak about installing the firmware update first. On the other hand they say on the download site for the firmware that the firmware update can also be done for the X25-M 80Gb. So maybe I can try this, but like i said, if its not necessary to update from bios, i don't do it.

Dereck47, I can try to install the intel drivers, but wich drivers do i need to update, or do i just need to install the driver update from intel that you gave me?

I tried to install, but installation said that my system does not meet minimum system requirements. When i looked in the read me on the download page, i noticed this:
1. The system must contain one of the Intel controllers listed in
section 1 above and one of the following processors:
- Intel(R) vPro
- Intel(R) Celeron
- Intel(R) Pentium
My notebook has an Intel Core duo T9300. So i think thats the reason for the installation abort. Is there any other driver update for core duo based processors?

I also noticed in the Disk management screen that my ssd isn't visible there too.

Only other thing I can think of that might help is to update your motherboard chipset software:

Ok, I did the update, there were a lot of updates. But after restart the problem is still the same. I still can't see my SSD in disk management. I can see my SSD in "my computer" when i right click on the ssd and go via properties to hardware then in the list of all disk drives, the SSD isn't visible again.

Should a check disk help? I booted up with a cd with Paragon boot manager. He did also see the SSD as the primary boot disk, and it stated the SSD as visible.

I tried to do the firmware update via bios, but when the update began scanning for SSDs, the update didn't found any. While my windows is running on that ssd, so my bios recognizes that ssd, the firmware doesnt detect any SSD. So this is a really weird problem.
