I have an older laptop running Windows MCE & the graphic card just failed. As there's no way the screen comes on now, I could use some help saving the OS, if possible, on the still-working HDD.
I've already managed to rescue all my files using Knoppix Liniux Boot CD. Just need some assistance, again, if possible, with saving the OS that's on the HDD. There's 20+ key activations still left on it as I never reformatted or did a fresh install of the OS. Seems like a big waste of perfectly good software if I just erase everything on there.
The HDD is 160GB IDE 2.5 drive, if that helps in any way.

If I helped you, Select my post as best answer. I like to feel smart
Hirens boot CD has some OS saving software as well as a Mini XP OS environmment that you can edit and browse files on the Hard drive.
Checked it out. Very impressive. Have never heard of it before. There seems to be a fantastic set of miscellaneous tools to pick from.
Haven't had a chance to use any of the recovery softwares yet as I'm researching what each one does.
Big thumbs up to you, since you're the only person who has helped me out here . Cheers.
