Sata 3 ssd vs sata 2 hdds in raid 0

I don't really know where to put this but i was thinking about buying an OCZ Agility 3 60 gb just to run my OS and maybe BF3 on it. But i also have 2 250gb hdds that im not using and i was thinking about running them in raid 0 since i already have a 1tb for just random stuff. So my question is would it just be better to spend the $90 ($75 after rebate) on the ssd or just run the 2 250gb in raid 0.

Hands down the best thing you can do is get the largest SSD you can afford. To me 60GB would work but would be kind of small. I have a 120GB Vertex 2 and with Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Office 2007 and other programs and about 10 or 12 games I have about 33GB free. Get the SSD and use those 250GB drives for storage. Buy an external encolsure for one of them. You can never be too redundant with important data and having 3 or 4 drives in your case and your house gets hit by lightning, you still lose those drives.

raid-0 is an overhyped performance benefit.
It shines only in synthetic sequential benchmarks.
In normal desktop operations, you can't tell the difference from a single drive.

Considering the current high price of hard drives, it might be a good time to sell them. You might get $30-$40 each. That would allow you to get a 80gb or better SSD. Intel has recently had two newegg rebates on their 320 series 80gb drives, netting at $80. Be on the lookout if they might repeat it.
