Help please

My pioneer dvd-rw dvr219l will not read / detect something like 6 out of 7 new games, but reads old games perfectly fine as well as Windows 7, driver discs, etc.

Games happily read:
-Battlefield 3
-Civ IV

Games not read:
-Dirt 3
-F1 2010
-Skyrim
-Witcher 2
-Rage

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with latest updates. The drive not only fails to Autoplay but doesn't recognise the discs when I manually navigate to them (but works fine and immediatlye if I switch the dvd to say Civ IV).

Could this be a SecuRom problem? I am running entirely legit and its a fresh build and install - everything out of the box in the last few weeks.

First try cleaning the disks. If that doesn't work just replace the drive. A new one is only $16.

All the new discs are brand new and are (to my eye) perfectly clean.

And I am reluctant to replace the drive given it works perfectly fine with other dvds including BF3 - that suggests to me it is not a drive (only) problem per se, and the new drive might have the same problem.
