I currently have a 120gb SSD as my boot drive and a 640gb hard drive for storage.
Can anyone explain the process of formatting my SSD and re-installing the OS? I do not care about the data that is currently on the SSD.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Just do a secure erase and then install Windoiws.

just insert your windows 7 DVD and follow the instructions. the setup will give you the option to format the SSD before installing.

Unless you have a problem with the SSD that requires a clean install, then:
How about doing a back-up of your C drive, using windows Backup. Place the image on your C drive.
.. The Remove partition and do a secure erase to free up blocks for that "like new" feel.
.. Can also do FW update if needed.
.. Then insert windows installation disk and select repair - from Image. Or if you made the "repair disk" prompted for duing BU, use that disk.

.. Saves a Lot of time. From the Image file I can do a repair from image and have the system up in 15 min. No Drivers to load, No programs to load - wallaa done.

What I do is after a clean Install, all drivers loaded, all programs loaded - Then Check out. If good then I make my image. if something happens and I start having problems - Then Secure erase, reinstall backup image and everyting is back to New.

You meant to place the image on your D (or E, F, G, etc) drive, no?

If he places the image on the C drive then does a secure erase, the image will be gone.

@ wpcoe Thanks for the Catch. Corrected my "slip of the fingers".
Image of C should go on a 2nd HDD (external or internal) or on several DVDs.

Hard to say put it on D, E ect as these could be partitions on the same drive.
