Hey guys,

I was wondering how do i find out if my Asus Desktop has SATA III ports? I see Sata1-6 on my motherboard but I'm not sure what that means, does it mean i have a SataI port, a SataII port, a SataIII port, etc?

Please help me find out if I have a Sata III port I bought a SSD that supports SATA III 2 days ago. I still have time to return it if my computer doesnt support SATA III.

And IF my computer doesnt have SataIII ports is there anyway that I can add a card that has these ports without losing any performance? thanks in advance

What's your motherboard's model ?

also what model is the SSD? just because its SATAIII doesn't mean it needs SATAIII. It will work just fine on SATAII, but you may not get full performance if its fast enough. Most of the low to midrange ones are "slow" enough it wouldn't matter. And even a slight performance hit can be fine if you got a good deal or want the SSD but don't want to replace you're motherboard (if its not SATAIII)

Look up the model number of your computer online at the ASUS website, and check the specs of your model. As mentioned already, even if you do have only SATA II ports, you would never notice any difference unless you are just working with very large files all the time. (like files in gigabyte size). Even then, any performance hit would be small.
