I recently bought a new ssd for my desktop and i want to make it my primary drive but it doesnt have enough memory to duplicate my old hdd. Is there a way i can run windows7 from my ssd instead of my hdd but still keep my data on my hdd?

Why yes there certainly would be. what you want to do first. is find your motherboards driver cd, you'll need the network cards drivers on there.

So basically unattach your old hdd's sata cable, and boot with new ssd which will require you to install a new os onto. once your done and want your old files, just replug the sata cable to your mechanical hdd and upon reboot you should be able to access what was previously your C:\ , I recomend renaming the drive also ..ie data drive..

You could just install Win 7 on the SSD. And then after installation reconnect the HDD. You can still access the data on the hard drive, but most applications will need to be reinstalled.
