Monitor for visually impaired

Hi,

My father is visually impaired, 87 yrs. old and just got his 1st computer through Texas Center for the Visually Impaired.
Texas Center gets used computers and adds magnifying, text reader software. They are then given to people like my dad for a donation.
Anyway this is what he has

Pentium 4 280 ghz
504 mb ram
Intel 82915G/GV/910GL express chip set family

the tower is one of those Dell space saving cases
the Model is DHS
Optiplex GX280

At present he as a 19" flat screen monitor that when he magnifies it to 400% ( he can then see the text)
you only see a small, very small part of the page and it's very frustrating. I would like to get him a 40" LCD TV. With what he has what do we need to do so he would be able to use a 40" ?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated

If the LCD screen has a VGA input you should be all set. Or if your computer has a DVI output you can get a DVI to HDMI cable and that will work as well. If you can find a reasonably priced lcd with VGA in and your computer doesnt have a DVI out you cna buy a very inexpensive graphics card with hdmi or dvi out. you need to see what interface your motherboard has (pci express or AGP) a very inexpensive graphics card such as the one I included a link to would be plenty.
