Hello,

I have a new build with dual drives, an SSD and HDD. When installing Win 7, I was given an option as to which drive to install the program on.

Can I set Win 7 or configure my BIOS to always give me this option prompt when installing drivers or software? Thanks.

Intel 80gb SSD
Seagate 7200rpm 1TB HDD

Drivers are generally installed on system drive, i.e. the drive in which windows 7 is installed & it will be wiser to do so in SSD.
During software installation the software installer will prompt you to choose the destination folder almost always, which will give you the option to install it on SSD or HDD.

Thanks for your reply and the suggestion for driver installation. I tried to install the drivers for a USB network adapter today and the software installer would not give me the option of drive choice; only "C:" drive.

My system recognizes the two drives in device manager, but the installer apparently did not? Are you saying that this is normal for driver installation and the installer defaults to the drive with the operating system?

I've not tried to install any other software to this system other than Win 7. Thanks.

Assuming C: / is SSD and you have installed win 7 on it,
1) Have you formatted the HDD?
2) If you have formatted HDD try installing some other softwares, & see if it gives you the option to install them on HDD.

Thanks for your reply. No, I have not formatted either the HDD or the SSD. Do I do this in BIOS or with Windows 7 prompts?

1)When you installed Windows 7, Your SSD is automatically formatted; again assuming that you installed it on SSD. 2)You don't need to do it in BIOS. Go to Computer. There should be one C: \ drive & another unformatted disk. Right click on that unformatted disk & click on FORMAT. Then complete the format & you can use it as D: \ or E: \ drive.

Thanks for the information. I'm not at my computer at present. I will follow your instructions for formatting my HDD when I can access it.
