I have a HD with UDMA-133

but it is set for udma -100

Does this mean my mainboard only supports udma/ata-100??

If so, whats the best ssd options?

Do i still have the ability to get a 10krpm HD? or would the benefits be lost if it's only udma-100. Even if it supports UDMA-300??

I'd think seek times and random read/write would still be beneficial with the 10krpm?

it's an old dell 845.

Yes, that chipset supports UltraDMA 100. I would not recommend an SSD or for that machine. IIRC even the first Raptors were SATA, so that would not be an option either. You would have to use a PCI SATA adapter and performance would not be worth the cost IMO.

Save the money up toward a new build. Depending on what you mainly do, you will probably get more bang for your buck with a new budget machine.
