How do I download music from my harddrive to a memory stick and be able to play on device with usb port?

Plug in the USB stick, navigate to where your music files are, copy them over to the USB drive. As long as they are in a format that the other device can read, it will play them.

Umm, Nick, that depends on your TV. Does the manual describe what types of music files (.mp3, .wma, .whatever) are needed and what filesystem has to be on the stick (FAT32, NTFS, something exotic)?

Well, that seems to mean that the filesystem is OK. Either the TV doesn't play music files, or the music files are the wrong type. Can you post the make/model of TV (usually model is on the back)?

What kind of music files? Are these DRM-free, Itunes, CD rips, or what? If it's music with DRM like Itunes or the like, then they aren't going to play on a device that doesn't have compatible security.

What's the file extensions on the music files? Did you copy and convert the music files or just copy them off the CD as is? When the TV is used to look at the drive, does it see the music? Do you get any error message?

You should be able to find the manual online from the vendor that will tell you exactly what files your TV can play. You also want to make sure that even if the file is the right type, there are often different options you can use when encoding the file, and some of those options the TV may not be able to decode.

Like a simple mp3 audio file, you can have all sorts of bit-rates, tons of other options, not all players can play all files even though it's the same basic file type.

So what file format is the music in?

File extension. .WAV, .MP3 etc... You should also explain how you got the music from the disk to the usb stick, that will get us some more clues.

And find a manual for your TV to find out what formats it supports.

That's the file system format of the USB drive, not the file format of the music files. Need that. What's the extension of the files?

We already know the music went to PC from CDs, need to know how that was done, what program and options were used.

Getting closer, still need to know what file extension the files have.

And this all will be pretty useless unless you find the manual for the TV and find out what it can play in the first place.

Then once you do that, you will know what format you can import the disks at.
