I have an NEC DVD+RW ND-6650A burner drive on my Inspiron 6000 laptop.
I have never successfully written a file of any kind (.doc, .xls, .pdf, video, or audio) to a DVD using this drive since it was new.
I am trying to use TDK 4X compatible 4.7 GB DVD-R disks.
Should I be using a DVD-RW disk to be compatible with my hardware?
The RW designation only means that the disk can be erased and re-used. Your -R disk will work fine but you need to use a program capable of writing to a DVD burner and you need a compatible file to be written. Give us more details.

The program I tried to use to burn DVDs is IfraRecorder version 2.01.01.a61.
