Is it possible to do RAID 1 without destroying data?

Forum Storage : NAS/RAID Is it possible to do RAID 1 without destroying data?

Is this possible?

Is there any way to easily do RAID 1 without destroying the data on the old drive?

I have 1 drive with the OS and a lot of other things. I have a duplicate drive (same brand, type, size, model, etc...) and I'd like to create a RAID 1 setup without destroying the data on the original drive.

RAID 1 does not destroy the data on the old drive; it simply mirrors the data onto the new drive(s).

But by designating a drive that was not previously part of an array would it not destroy partitions, etc.?
