X7DAL-E+ CPU Alarm madness

Forum Motherboards & Memory : Supermicro X7DAL-E+ CPU Alarm madness

Word :    Username :

Hello,
I have an old X7DAL-E+ motherboard. Since moving to Hong Kong from Australia the CPU alarm screams at the slightest provocation (HK is a lot hotter generally than Sydney). The manual says its set to alarm at 75 degrees. That means that whenever I am playing a modern 3d game the alarm screams the entire time (even with the A/C on).

Looking in the bios and manual I couldn't see a way to change it from 75 degrees to 90 degrees.

Anyone have any idea? Its driving me crazy.

Thanks in advance.

Clean out the CPU fan and the case, make sure the airflow isn't restricted and see if that helps.

Cleaned them out. No change. Set them to full ball - no change. Ended up cracking the case open and have an external fan blowing at the CPU -> no more alarm so far (with a/c on at least).

Thanks for the advice. Would still prefer to find a way to actually set the alarm threshold higher or off. But this PC is 5 years old now, time for an upgrade anyway :)
