I think this problem may be related to this one ( http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] gnise-dvds ), but seems a little bit different. The solution listed here has not worked for me.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L735, purchased about 6 months ago. The DVD drive initially worked fine, but I have not had to use it in a while. Recently, I have tried to use it a few times, but it has not worked. It will spin when I first insert the disk, but it won't recognize that a disk is in the drive, or if it does it then hangs and will not respond.

This is different to the other thread as My Computer still indicates the drive is there, but it will not read the disk. I tried the solution, nevertheless and it didn't work. I do not have LowerFilters registry value.

My machine is i3, 64-bit running windows 7.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you~!
