I just reformatted to windows 7 and my cd rom will only read some cds... but not the ones i need it to.. i blew it out tried reinstalling drivers and microsoft fixit, and regedit fix but i have no upper or lower filters.. and nothing works...tried different 2 cd roms and only reads some cds... Even when i put it as main boot priority for a reinstall of windows 7 it just skips right past it and cannot read it....can read some other discs though....device manager says both of the roms were working properly as well...PLEASE HELP!! thank you

You already tried everything.

Suggestion: Try to hook up this drive with another computer and see if it works there.

How old is the CD drive. I mean, a time comes, when things need to be replaced unfortunately. Maybe it is time for a new drive.

If it can read some CD's and not others then it is time to get a new drive. They are very cheap nowadays you can get a DVD DL R/W drive for very little and a second hand DVD drive from eBay is little more than the postage costs
