I edited a home video of my daughter's wedding on my PC (running Vista) which was recorded in AVCHD format. The edited version was stored as a VLC media file, but when I tried to burn it to a DVD-RW disc in my E drive, which supports DVD-RW, my PC ejected it, saying was not a writeable disc. Can anyone help please?

The DVD you are using may have been accidental locked.

Once you begin writing to a DVD it becomes locked so no more data can be added to it, unless you have a RW (re-writeable) DVD and burner.

I would recommend trying another DVD and seeing if that works.

Tried that, but thanks for your help.
I can write direct from my camera.

The puzzling thing is I can write direct from my camera. I wondered if it was the VLC format that was the problem.
Thanks for your interest.

You might also want to check your write speed to see if it is set to the supported write speeds of the disk.

Afraid I don't know how to do that.
I'm on a Dell XPS 420 with Vista, and the discs are Sony DVD-RW
