Are my OC Temperatures Safe?

Forum Overclocking : CPUs Are my OC Temperatures Safe?

What's up guys. I have been messing with my PC's settings all day today and have a couple questions about my OC temps and other stuff.

I'm using RealTemp to monitor my CPU temperatures and CPU-Z to check its activity. When idling or just using Skype and the internet it sits at around 50 degrees Celsius and the core speed bounces anywhere between 1900mhz and 3000mhz. When I was testing the settings on WoW the temperatures went up to around 60 - 65 degrees celsius and in MW3/BF3 the temps got to around 80 degrees celsius.

Is 80 degrees an okay temperature to be at under a heavier load like gaming? I was just wondering if playing a good game for 2 to 3 hours at those temperatures would cause any damage to my CPU at all.

I have an intel core i5 750 stock at 2.66 ghz overclocked to about 3.44 ghz. Depending on what kind of feedback I get on whether or not 80 degrees celsius is an okay temperature to be hovering around, I'll either keep it the same or lower the OC settings just a tad to compensate for temperatures..

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

PS: I know that everyone says not to OC on a stock heatsink.. I have a mid-tower case at the moment and a new heatsink probably wouldn't fit inside of it. I plan on upgrading to a much needed full tower soon.

are those core temps or cpu ?
yes stock heatsink will need to be upgarded. U can always go with water cooler.
it's not about how big is tower but how good is ur airflow

Many mid-tower cases will accommodate a good 160mm tall air-cooler quite easily.
If your case is 7.5"+ there's plenty of options.
All three of my rigs use mid-towers and all have aftermarket air-coolers.

water cools better than air.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Still need air in a water cooled system.
Unhook the 4 fans you have and tell me about it.

I don't think that anyone would dispute that water cools better than air.

Who would do that?

Just wait for that nanospray that supposed to protect anything from water and you can have fully submerged system :)

I want to fully submerge my system (if you saw my work area, you would know why this is so funny) :)

Alright I lowered the temps so that now under a lot of stress it only reaches around 75 degrees Celsius. I'll keep it there for now and go order my self a new cooler. As well as a case and some more RAM because I feel that this is the right time to do it.. lol.
