New OC Any suggestions

Hi I have been reading some forums and threads to see how to OC. My goal is 3.0. Here are my specs:
Q6600
Asus P5K SE
CM 212 Plus
2 x Samsung 1gb DDR2 PC2-6400 (400MHz)
2x Crucial 2gb DDR2 PC2-6400 (400MHz)
and a 550w Thermaltake PSU

Current Settings are all auto except FSB is 333 and Multiplier is 9.
I have Max CPUID Value limit and C1E support disabled
HW monitor has my temps up 3-7 degrees C
CPU-Z doesnt recognize my OC and neither does windows it says Q600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39Ghz

Did I do anything right or wrong? Any suggestions? This is my first OC so any help would be appreciated.

*update*
when prime 95 is running CPU-Z reads the core speed as 3003.3MHz (9 x 333.7) - Earlier low speed due to intel power saver, I am new at this...

My temps are 38 - 46 degrees C on the four cores 2 hours into p95 is this good? my idle temps pre OC were just under 22 - 30

The vCore is at 1.21/1.22 and maxed at 1.30
+12V is 11.88 right now a min/max of 11.82/11.93
AVCC is 3.23 max of 3.25
+3.5v is 3.23 max of 3.25
+5V is 5.04 max of 5.06

Are these average results? Can they be improved?

Look great so far. With that cooler you can probably push it to 3.4 or even 3.6Ghz. Just keep going up on the FSB and leave the multiplier at 9. You are fine with that RAM. As long as you leave the ratio at 1:1 you will not even be running it at DDR2 800 unless you can hit 400 FSB.

Keep the CPU under about 65C and as long as it's stable in Prime 95 you are golden.

Should I change the timings and voltage from auto to a set value? And if so which ones? Can I get this to run any cooler with set vCore values and ram timings?

Set the RAM to whatever its default speed and timings are manually in BIOS so you are not overclocking it as well ( probably 1.8v 5-5-5-18 ). Those temps are great so far. I would keep the CPU voltage around 1.4v-1.45v at the highest.

How do I know for sure the RAM timings? and How do I set two separate timings? Should I just leave the VCore on Auto? As well I believe I have OC'ed my ram because In windows index my Processor and RAM went from 7.1 to 7.3

The RAM timings are all the same. BIOS will not run RAM at 2 different settings. The model of RAM you have should have the voltage, speed and timings listed on their website. Somewhere in your BIOS you will have memory frequency settings. That is where you enter the settings.

i always thought ram must be in matching pairs to run dual channel mode, if thats true you might want to just run your 2 2gig sticks

OP has matching pairs. 2 x 1GB and 2 x 2GB.

i mean shouldn't all 4 sticks be matching for dual channel mode? if not i thought it would run in a slower single mode

It's dual channel not quad channel. Dual meaning 2. There are 4 RAM slots. As long as you use 2 matching sticks in the same colored slots you have dual channel. So what OP is running is a dual channel setup. He would need to have matching sets in all 4 slots to run quad channel in an LGA 2011 board.

The Samsung Ram is in Slot 1 and 3 while the Crucial is in 2 and 4.
I used CPU-Z to find the ram timings at 333Mhz it says CAS# latency is 5.0, RAS# to CAS# is 5, RAS# is 5, Precharge, tRAS is 12 and tRC is 20 voltage is 1.8 So I put 5-5-5-15 as the RAM settings with Voltage of 1.8, It blue screened 30 seconds into Intel Burn test on max setting. At the same time I set the vCore to 1.275. I believe the VCore was the problem but I reset both to auto until I can get some information

As I said above you are good up to 1.4-1.45v. If it's not stable go on up a bit.

Okay I think I finally got this all set right,
333 x 9
Ram is 5-5-5-15 with 2T - It ran 6 passes of memtest error free
Vcore is at 1.3175 or 3.125 cant quite remember I've tried so many. It seems fine at this setting but very unstable at 1.3

Idle temps are 30, 28, 24, 27 Degrees C on the four cores.
It passed Intel burn test on Very high for ten loops I will put on P95 over night tonight to ensure its stability.

Any further suggestions or does this look good?
