I bought arctic silver 5 for a future build with a 2600k and a hyper n520 cooler... but some people are saying there are a lot better thermal pastes out there..

There are lots of better Thermal Pastes out there - But AS5 is tried and tested and will beat stock thermal paste in almost every case (Exceptions being the Phanteks thermal paste and the Prolamitech among others)
Arctic Ceramique is considered better and doesn't have the cure time that AS5 has. But rest assured AS5 will give you excellent temps once the 200 hour burn in period has passed.

Thanks! Good enough for me.

Tuniq TX-3 rates as high or higher than AS5 and requires NO cure time.
