New to intel Wanted some speculation on overclocking these processors

Forum Overclocking : Intel New to intel Wanted some speculation on overclocking these processors

My current build I have:
i7-2700k
p8p67 intel extreme board
corsair hx850 psu
8gb 2x4gb corsair dominator 1600
WD caviar black 1tb
Corsair h70 cooler
crossfire xfx 5770's

I'm use to AMD processors and their oc structure but not too keen on intel. I've been reading different forums but not really finding any information as far as rule of thumb for intel cpu's. If any thoughts or speculation on where to start or a good source to refer me too would be awesome. Here to learn heard this community is the best

THanks,
Prada

this is simple.

you could go the slow route of bumping the multiplier by one and then testing but if you going to do a high overclock set the multiplier the 45 and the voltage to 1.335v and go from there. turn off all the power saving features as well.

your going to want to keep the temps under 70 and ideally under 60 if you want your rig to last forever but 80 shouldnt kill your cpu within 3-4 years. thats just a good estimate but the temps arent.

also keep the voltages below 1.4 and 1.35 if your a cautious person.

your temps should be about 75*c with that mid to high level cooler.

Okay, cool well now i have a place to start, when I make then changes, i'll post an update on my sys temperature and clock speeds. Thanks for the insight.

Nearly all of the i-K's that I have seen here can reach 4.2 GHz. Most can reach 4.4 - 4.5 GHz. Some can go higher. 5.0 GHz , while notable, is not too unusual.
