Should I run a P67 or Z68 mobo if I want to overclock a 2500k processor? I thought both were OK but I just read an article that said to use P67. I'm about to order all my new parts so I need to know!

Is one better than the other? I have this mobo picked out and just want to make sure it will work properly for what I want.

For overclocking: no significant difference between the two chipsets.

Don't forget that microcenter sells the 2500k for 179.00 and they offer 50 bucks off p67/z68 mobo's when you purchase a 2500k. I got a 2500k and a p67 for under 240.00 bucks after tax. The caveat is you need to live near one.

A mobo with a Z68 chipset is better than P67 for the reasons: In Z68 chipset mobo you can use the Intel SRT (Smart Response Technology) using a 20 GB to 64 GB SSD as cache drive. In Z68 chipset you can use the Lucid Virtu as a feature, it means you can use the built in IGPU of the i5 2500K and at the same time you can use the dedicated GPU if you will buy one. These are the features that the P67 chipset mobo doesn't have.

z68 unless you can find a p67 much cheaper. Reason being is the z68 allows the use of onboard CPU graphics, this is just in case your video card breaks then you can use the onboard graphics while waiting for a replacement.

All of the other features it offers over the p67 dont matter, SRT is a joke you are much better off using a dedicated SSD boot drive.
