Just a curious question
I have a i7-3930K and a Rampage 4 extreme and planning on a future overclock once all my W/C gear arrives.

But for now out i just wanted to know if anyone could shed any light on something.

Does disabling Hyper-Threading affect the CPU TDP?
Is this an effective way of pushing the cpu that bit further when you hit the wall

none of this i have tried yet, cause i haven't got all my gear yet.
Just wondering if anyone has played with this at all yet

HT does add more heat. When you disable HT it will lower temps making it so you can most likely get a better OC. But really who buys a 6 core/12 threaded CPU to turn off HT? That's crazy.

I know it's crazy was just curious about what kind of difference it could make specially if you were pushing for that ultimate o/c

Yeah, definitely. Also, most applications won't use more than 6 cores anyway, so if you disabled them, it most likely wouldn't hurt performance on most applications.

Also, disabling cores will give you better temps too. But really, if you disable cores and HT, then you got a i5 2500k.
