I am trying to over clock my FX 8120 with a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 Mobo 16G of 1600 Mhz Ramm

Just wanted to know any tips, what the Clock Freq. and Clock Ratio should be at. first time clocking, and wanna make sure everything is good ;) any advice is awesome.

Thanks.

you can simply adjust your multiplier and get a pretty significant OC. I was able to achieve a stable 4.2GHz OC without increasing my voltage,I have a different motherboard however and all chips are a bit different but lots of people have been getting similar OC's. One tip is to adjust your LLC (load line calibration) and set it to very high or ultra this will help with VDroop.

oh also, do you have an aftermarket cooler? that would be an important item before overclocking, the stock CPU cooler is not going to keep good temps with an aggressive OC

I do have an aftermarket heatsink ;) I get about 50-56% while gaming C with about 3.6 ghz to 4.0 .... what do you think.

While those temps are perfectly in range for that CPU's recommended thermal max temp (which is 61C). I would run Prime95 for a couple hours to see what your temps will be at full load for extended periods of time.

What cooler are you using? what program are you using to monitor CPU temps? 56C seems a little high for just a 300MHz OC especially when there is no voltage increase. What type of thermal paste did you use when you installed the aftermarket cooler?
