Yeah so it's a really old graphics card. I never overclocked it because I was scared it would break, but I am getting a new card in a couple of months so I might as well OC this one. This would be my first time overclocking. I just need a guide on how to OC this. I found some articles but they were either really outdated or they had a different version of the card I have. I am not using nTune as it doesn't even work on Windows 7 and I have never even heard of MSI Afterburner until now. I will be using Nvidia System Tools. I need some help on how to do this. Thanks if you help me with this. I would be lucky if anyone even has this card anymore.

Don't OC it! If you're getting a new one now, just sell it. You'll be able to sell it much easier and more much more if you've never overclocked it. Think of it as a 50.00 bill you've got in your pocket. You can risk OCing it and jacking it up, or just sell it.
Thing is I've read that before but my 8800 GTS is actually different from the one used there. Would it still be the same?
It does not matter what the card looks like or what program you use to overclock with the principles are the same. You are increasing clock speed and memory speed. Clock speed will give you much more of a performance gain than memory will.
When overclocking anything go bit by bit. Overclock then test then repeat. As long as the testing is stable you are fine. As long as you do that you will be fine. I have overclocked pretty much every part of my computer that you can adjust for years and I have never killed a single part.
The article I linked you to should give you an idea of what your card can do.
I would actually consider selling it but I doubt any one will even buy this card. I will probably just keep it incase things do not work out with my new one. And as for the OC, I dunno what happened. It is probably my lack of knowledge on OCing, but mine went horrible. It was normally 650MHz for the clock. I went 20 up, and my GPU started having crazy temperatures. I am letting my computer be as cool as it can be. I took of the side pannel so it can breathe easier, I even cleaned the GPU/other parts of computer before attempting to OC. People said (a while ago) this card would be able to OC far. I don't know what happened. I put my fan 100% and I was averaging about 90C playing MW2 on max settings. Is that high or not?
Yeah that is WAY too high. Do you have a full size cooler on your card or just a small fan? If it just has a small fan you might be out of luck. You are not increasing voltage are you? You would have to do that on purpose and would know.

I do just have a small fan. I am not increasing voltage. I decided I would take off my side case and it helped. I also took out the card and removed some of the dust. I will try to OC again. I do not know if there is any bottlenecking going on. The first suspect I would think would be my E8400 at 3.00 GHz. Having only 2 GB of RAM on a 64bit is also not a good thing I believe.
Yeah Windows 7 x64 really needs 4GB of RAM to run well. If you had a good CPU cooler that E8400 would probably go to 4Ghz easily. My old E8400 is still running at 450FSB ( 4.050Ghz ) 4 1/2 years after I bought it.
You are not going to be able to overclock that card much more than you already have with that small cooler on it. If I was you I would be happy it overclocked at all.
Well, it was worth a shot. This card is still good. I have had it for almost four years and it is still strong. I just thought maybe OCing on an old card just for fun to see what the results would be since I am getting a new one soon. Still, thanks for all of your help guys.
