I've gotten myself a lovely new HAF case and upgraded my graphics card to a 560 ti and I currently have a Q8400 cpu. also running a corsair tx650.
My question is, since I have decent airflow in my case, should I shell out for a ~50-60 euros cpu water cooler, like the corsair Hydro series. Or do nothing.
In other words, Will I see a significant increase if I overclock my Q8400 how well does this cpu overclock. - I'm hoping to get a few more years of performance out of it, until I upgrade my mobo and cpu in end of 2013.
I will obviously take a look at benchmarks, but I wanted an opnion.
What do you guys think?
I know nothing about CPU overclocking in all honesty ( All I know is that you need decent cooling and a good psu) , but ill find out when I get there.
Get the h100 cooler. As for overclock settings i would look up your mobo model and the processor name on google. I bet you will stumble upon some forums with overclock settings you can plug into your mashine. For the future when you will be upgrading you can still carry over the h100, just contact the manufacturer for the mounting hardware if they come out with some new socket (looking at you intel)
