System just Beeps solid then shuts down after installing Corsair H60

I installed the corsair H60 water cooling ie into my Gateway FX6801-03
computer and followed the directions 100% even made sure to use alcogrhol wipes to clean off the old thermal paste until it was perfect. i even reseated the cpu and all the ram... the pc was working great before i installed the water cooler now it turns on and Solid BEEPS for 15 seconds "nothing shows up on the screen" and then it just shuts off.... i dunno wtf to do :cry: :cry:

i do notice 1 thing the cpu heatsink on the corsair unit say to plug the connector for that into the cpu fan connection on the motherboard and my stock cooler was 3 pins and the new Corsair is 4 Pins...

at this point i really hope i didnt fry my pc... please help!!!

It sounds like the board is either not recognizing the CPU, or the CPU is overheating and shutting the system down.

I would re-check
-- The installation of the CPU to be sure you have the CPU properly aligned and seated.
-- Make sure the heatsink is firmly (but not too tightly seated on the CPU).
-- And that the power wire is properly attached to the CPU_FAN. The three-pin should align with the guide to easily slip over the board's 4-pins.

It sounds like your system is shutting down due to not detecting a CPU cooling fan. Make sure you plug the connector in as suggested or, make sure that you have a fan connected to the CPU fan header.

Most BIOS have a setting to ignore CPU_FAN. This is what most people set if they run full watercooling loops as there isn't anything to connect to that header.

(note, PWM pump control via MCP35x could potentially use this, just FYI).

Very true Rubix but, I would not bet on a Gateway BIOS having that option. But it is worth checking if the user can get to the BIOS.

Quick Google search says it's an X58 based board, so it's a toss-up on whether it would have the ability for a user to access it...might be a custom BIOS with locked down capabilities, but it is considered a 'gaming PC' by their ads.

ok i tried removing everything and reinstalling and reseating the cpu... 1 problem.. i cannot remember where the "Front Power Switch" plugs into the motherboard. ive looked for hours but nothing is labled. its 2 pins

Bottom right-hand corner of the MB, there should be the pins for the system board interface switches/LEDs. You'll have to look closely to see where it needs to be connected- it's usually printed on the MB PCB.

i found the power switch spot it powers on now but no video..... ughh :cry:

i kno ive invested like 2 grand into the thing with all the mods and upgrades over the past year.. no bios beeps ... sucks so bad

the only thing i can really think of that would do that is your psu or mb.should see what rubix has to say about it tho hes more into all of this then i am, is your psu making any type of noise at all like a out of the ordinary buzzing sound? took out and put back in your vidcards ram ectect?

no weird noises power supply sounds fine.. no bios beep tho or no video at all not even a flicker when i power it on.

all fans come on and mobo light comes on also.. just no video on screen..

well,take out the videocard put ity back in and put all the plugs back on it, does your mb have intergrated gpu on it? if so try to use that and see if you get any video there so you can rule out if its your mb or videocard

i looked through the guide and i did put it back properly.. i will go through it step by step tomorrow. i need to order a tube of thermal paste for the heatsink.
