i need a new am3/am3+ board. For phenom2 x4 970 or 960t cpu.

What i need in the board are as follows.

1. High cpu tdp support at least 125w (or 140w or more if possible).

2. Full support for overclocking and core unlocking.

3. Need around 2 pcie x16 v2.0 slot (1 at x16 other can at x4, x8 or x16). If 2 slots are not available then 1 will be suficient but need v2.0.

4. Want 16gb or more (4x4gb) of ddr3 support or at least 8gb (2x2gb).

BUDGET
budget is less than 75 doller or around 4000 indian rupees (it is limit because i will buy window8 and gta5 when available in market)

BRAND PREFERENCE
asus, gigabyte, msi.

size
i prefer atx size but can manage with matx too if atx is not available

please note this, i live in india, provide as many choices as you can, any opinion and or advice will be appreciated

(This the new edited list, means i still need a board untill this thread is solved).

Your asking for an awful lot for $50(at least if you were buying it in the US).

Let me break it down some for you,
DDR2 and DDR3 on the same board is very uncommon.
Core Unlocking appears to be limited to AM3 boards. 880 and 890 Chipsets are when it was introduced.

The good news, You can find a board that will support most of the options you request. Excluding DDR3/DDR2 on the same board and any CPU that doesn't have a DDR3 Controller.

The bad news, it will cost more than $50, and will most likely not support DDR2 or older AMD processors.

So your decision is, Do you want Core Unlocking? Do you want DDR3? IF SO you must use an AM3 CPU. Those two are exclusive to AM3 processors/Chipsets. As the AM2 CPU's do not have DDR3 controllers and Core Unlocking is only available on 880/890 Chipsets and up(The 870 may support it as well) and those do not come with DDR2 support.

So if you absolutely must use the CPU listed in your configuration, then you will have to give up DDR3 support.

I found an AM3 board that supports only DDR2 and Core Unlocking according to Gigabyte but its Micro ATX and only has 1 PCI-E slot. And it's 750 rupees more than your budget it can be seen here http://www.amd.theitdepot.com/prod [...] P8266.html

Basically with your budget and requirements your choices are slim to none.

That board is limited on support of some higher TDP CPUs as well, highest X6 is 1055T and X4 is 960T(which has a possibility of being unlocked but the temp sensors don't work when it is)

Core unlocking has been around for some time. Since the 780's were introduced anyhow. The MSI 790FX-GD70 is a solid choice if you can pick it up cheap. I am currently running two of them quite happily. If not, then check into the MSI 870A-G46. That is a more recent board, though not a full ATX. More like a mini-ATX, bigger than a micro board anyhow. With 2 PCI-epxress X16's, 1 PCI-express 1x, and 3 PCI slots. The only problem I have had with MSI's cheaper boards are the chipset cooling. Be ready to replace their crap thermal paste with something a little better. In my case, all of my boards now run Arctic Silver 5, and run much better because of it.

You can attempt to unlock cores on any 710 series chipset or above,
AsRocks M3a770de supports ddr3, up to 140w chips, has 2 pcie lanes, one at x16, next will run at x4 in crossfire though
and support unlocking/clocking well
should be cheap as dirt these days too

i searched for those boards in market and unable to find them
i found these boards which are fullfiling my minimum requirements.
1. gigabyte ga-75lmt-s2p @60dollers www.gigabyte.com/products/product- [...] id=3833#ov
2. gigabyte ga-880gm-usb3l @90dollers www.gigabyte.com/products/product- [...] id=3828#sp

and i am unable to find that 960t cpu
i found
phenom 2 x4 955 @130$
phenom 2 x6 1090t @170$

so if i choose board 1 then i can get 1090t
if i choose board 2 then i can get 955 in my total budget.

So i am leaning towards board 1, but this board have 3 revisions and newer rev (rev 4.0, 5.0) have a tdp support of 95w, while rev 3.1 support 125w.

does it mean that rev 3.1 of this board is buggy?
Is it (board 1) a good choice?

Should choose 880 chipset. It's better

Reply to henydiah

+1, if you can get those boards where you are, the 880 is the better option
