Hi sengkaew.

It's hard to say ahead of time if you will be able to get overclocks in the 5GHz range, especially on air. With a good cooler like that, you should be able to get 4.5 without too much of a problem.

There are a lot of factors going into an overclock as high as 5 GHz, the voltage stability of the motherboard is very important. It needs to be rock solid for clocks that high, and the board you have is a budget board and the voltage will likely waver a bit, and make hitting that 5 GHz mark farily difficult.

Motherboard aside, there is a difference from chip to chip as well as far as temps go. Some batches are very good and can get to 5GHz without a problem (with a good MoBo) and some get too hot well before 5.

The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself.

Hi blade061188,

Thanks a lot for you comment. Could you please provide us your suggest motherboard ?

There are no guaranteed results, but toms did a review of high end motherboards.

Here is the part about overclocking Toms goes on to recommend the MSI board.

What is your reason for wanting to get to 5GHz? Is it just for bragging rights, or do you have a reason for needing a 5Ghz chip. Another thought is that the 2600k is more or less the same as the 2500k except that it is hyper-threaded (able to run 8 threads instead of two)

Hyper-threading increases the temps of your CPU, so if you are just looking for clock speed, you might get better results with a 2500k.

Let me know if you have more questions.
