Hi Everyone!

I recently purchased a motherboard/cpu/memory upgrade for my rig. After hooking up my i7-2600k, I noticed some heat issues with my cpu.
Here's my info on the rig:
-corsair graphite 600t special edition white mid tower case
-intel i7-2600k processor & stock heatsink and thermal paste
-cpu is still at stock speeds
-asus P8Z68 deluxe/gen 3 motherboard.
-CPU temp sensor at idle - 26C
-at full load - 72C
- Mobo temp at load and idle - 30C

My cpu jumps to 72C within 10 seconds on a full load. If I overclocked it to about 4.4-4.6GHz, would a better thermal paste solve the issue or would a new heatsink be needed as well? I want to keep the rig air cooled. If a new heatsink would be needed, which one would you guys suggest for it?

Thanks in advance!

Go for a heatsink.
The CM 212+ or Evo are very good low cost units. = both come supplied with a tube of very good paste.

Good thermal paste like AC5 or MX-4 will reduce the load temps by a few degree's but a good heatsink will make alot more difference.

What RAM are you using? I ask because some larger heatsinks may not fit over the top of your RAM if your RAM is tall.

Also what is your budget?

I'm using G Skill sniper low voltage RAM. I'm using 4 sticks. The motherboard is an ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 board.

I'm aiming for air cooled and do not want to spend more than $50

Thanks!

I've decided to go with the CM 212 with arctic silver 5 paste. Thanks for the help!
