hi im tryingto over clock my e6550 asrock g31m-gs mobo, 4gb pc-5300 memory. issue i have is it wont overclock the normal way, what i mean, is if i try to raise fsb, then it locks, but if i say ajust pcie to 110 i can get to 2.62mhz but no more, what am i doing wrong, i did try 400fsb x 7 and ram to ddr 800, but locked up. i cant get no higher than 2.6mhz and dont want to ajust pcie any more as dont know effect, i only upped pcie as its next to fsb on asrock overclock utility havent ajusted any voltages as not sure, stock fan/heatsink btw any help guys
oops update just upped pcie to 121 and fsb to 401, 2.8mhz . hope this is ok?

Whaaa? you have no idea of what PCI-E frequency does so you decided to go ahead and change it?
Why didn't you alittle research before changing settings in the BIOS.. Set the PCI-E frequency back to 100
I believe your stock FSB is 333 (7 x 333 = 2.33Ghz), going straight up to 400 was to big a jump, try 340 to start off with, and don't set your 666Mhz RAM to run at 800Mhz... not all RAM will be able to overclock that much.

just call me dull, i did get to 3ghz but hdd disappeared, everytime i try to o/c in bios then hdd go missing and cant boot into windows, i did read that pcie was used to bump fsb in days gone by, cant even get 340fsb without my hdd disappearing, it starts, but they have gone, have to clear cmos all time,lol update without altering pcie then whatever i do to fsb will lock and need to clear cmos
