I'm pretty new to OCing, and by that I mean I've never done it before. I have a new mother board and an i5 2500K on the way from newegg, here's what's coming:
Now, I'm not exactly saure how far that mobo can take me when talking about OCing, but I'd like to OC the CPU as much as possible. So, I know the factory HSF isn't going to cut iut when it comes to taking this chip to the limits, so what's a solid after market setup for this CPU? I assume I'll need thermal paste as well. I don't exactly have a budget, but I'd really like to get the best bang for my buck. Also, are there any cheap water cooling alternatives?
A Hyper 212+/EVO will be enough to take the chip to around 4.5Ghz, and they come with thermal paste. Closed loop water cooling will start at around $70, but they are not as good as some of the better air coolers.
Very high cooling budget: Phase change cooling (aka refrigeration)
Do keep in mind that typically, the value per performance skyrockets as you move from air to water cooling, and from water to phase cooling. I would recommend that you get the best air cooling system before hopping to a water cooling and so on.

Damn, that's only $36.99 with free shipping, too! nice!
