Forum Overclocking : AMD Overclocking a 1055t

I would like to overclock my phenom II x6 1055t 95w edition. I have a budget of £50 to spend on a cooler. My case has good airflow and my motherboard is an asus m5a78l-m lx. Should I get air or water cooling. I have a budget of £40 for a cooler. If anybody could suggest a decent cooler available in the UK that fits my budget it would be much appreciated.

Thanks, how far do you think I can overclock with one of those at decent temps?

The hard part is the 1055t is a locked CPU, meaning you can't change the multiplier. I have one and was only able to get about 3.1ghz stable (temps were still low even as I went higher, it was just unstable, even with voltage increases). As with all overclocking, your experience may vary.

Ok thanks. At the moment I am undecided between the Zalman 9700, Zalman 9900, and the 212 evo. Which performs the best?

I'd go with the 212 - but that's just based on benchmarks as I have a scythe cooler I switched to for noise purposes (if I wasn't going to be able to oc it much anyhow, might as well go for a quieter PC).
