I have a 2600k. I want to overclock my processor up to 4.2 GHz.
What is the best air cooler for this?
* I have a middle tower. So a cooler should be at most 14 cm (Height).
* I would like to have temperatures at most 65°C at Full Load with 2600k @ 4.2 GHz.
My room temperature is at most 35°C.
It works the same for the Core i7-2600 @ 4.0 GHz? (This is for my friend)
What should be the max temperatures in both cases at Full Load (2600 @ 4.0 Ghz, 2600k @ 4.2 Ghz) with the air cool you recommend?
Thanks !
PD: With the Cooler Stock, I got 81°C with the 2600k @ 4.0 Ghz.
The above will be fine and keep temps MUCH lower than the stock cooler. There are better performing alternatives like the Corsair H80, but I don't know your budget.
Your friends 2600 isnt designed for overclocking, it has a fixed multiplier, I expect he has achieved his overclock by increasing the BLCK value.
Your 2600K should be able to overclock much higher as you can adjust your multiplier.

BTW, 35C is pretty warm for room temp!
But it is too big for my case. Take into account the fact that it should be at most 14 cm of height.
