Mysterious Behaviour, New High Spec System.

I just built my new developer workstation, but I'm confused about a few things, here is kit summary first:

• Mobo = ASUS Rampage IV Extreme BF3 X79
• CPU = Core i7 3960x 3.30 GHz
• Memory = G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL10Q-32GBZL (I have 64GB)
• Video = EVGA GeForce GTX 580

First issue is the BIOS sees/reports memory as being 1333 NOT 1866 as is written on memory packaging.

Second issue, I haven't played much, but when I used the overclock BIOS menu, each of the basic settings cause box to not boot, I can only get it to boot if I reset BIOS to defaults.

Third, I tried to specify in BIOS that memory was 1866, but again it failed to boot and I had to reset CMOS.

Other than this, so far it is superb machine, very fast indeed for my work (A complete rebuild of a large software product takes 9 seconds vs 50 seconds on earlier kit).

But I paid for 1866 memory not 1333, what is wrong? all kit is high spec...

Run memtest at 1333 or whatever speed it boots to check if it's ok and of course set it to xmp profile in bios.

First up have you updated to the newest bios version sometimes they fix issues like this?
